The Art of Living Heritage

Just outside Paris, nestled among trees that will soon be three centuries old, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday travel, the Château de Méridon isn't just a destination.

It is a place where time slows down, where silence feels natural again, and where every moment unfolds at a leisurely pace.

No one arrives here by chance. You arrive when you are ready for something different.
Hidden, quiet, timeless, Château de Méridon was not made to be discovered by everyone, but to be recognised by a few.

Château de Méridon at a glance
A neo-Renaissance Château rebuilt in 1883 in Chevreuse, about 40 minutes from central Paris.
12 suites and bedrooms, up to 34 overnight guests, and a 5-hectare park bordering the Méridon forest.
The estate is privatised for one party at a time and never hosts public events.

Another idea of luxury

Luxury is not what you see, it is what you feel when everything slows down. Nothing here is ostentatious, nothing is loud, nothing is standardised.
Only silence, light, space, and that rare sensation that the world has come to a standstill.

Château de Méridon was designed for those who already know the finest hotels in the world and are now looking for something more personal, more intimate and more meaningful.

An intimate retreat

This is not a place designed for volume.
It was conceived as a private retreat, where a small number of residents live the château in complete calm.

The atmosphere is intentionally relaxed:
Unhurried mornings, quiet afternoons, long evenings, and the sense that the outside world has gently faded away.
Every stay is personal, never standardized, never predictable.

A place to reconnect

Some journeys take you further away.
Others bring you closer to what truly matters.

At Château de Méridon, the experience is defined not by what you do, but by simply being there.
Strolling through the gardens, sitting by a window, sharing a leisurely dinner.

Creativity returns naturally here, and conversations go deeper.

A living Heritage

First recorded in the 13th century, the Méridon estate has spent centuries hidden in the folds of the Chevreuse Valley.
The present château was completed in 1883 for Pierre Marques di Braga, then Counsellor of State, who had his initials and those of his wife Marie Gautreau, carved on the keep.
Its architect, Eugène Bruneau, would later become Chief Architect of France’s Historic Monuments.
At the turn of the XXth century, it opens itself quietly, without ever fully revealing itself.
Acquired in 1909 by the Marquis de Breteuil whose coat of arms still crowns the salon fireplace, the Château de Méridon becomes his hunting confidential retreat - just as it had been for previous French royalty enjoying the grounds of Méridon.
Among those the Château de Méridon welcomes: the American Ambassador Henry White (Versailles’s Treaty signatory) and his wife Margaret Stuyvesant White, whose extraordinary eye recognises the genius of a certain John Singer Sargent before the world discovers him, and gently opens for him the doors of a society that shapes his destiny.
Mrs Margaret White’s portrait now sits at the National Gallery of Art in Washington and regularly travels the world’s most exclusive Art Museums.

It is this kind of eye that Château de Méridon has always attracted: those who perceive the deeper value of things where others do not yet see anything.
Restored in 2023 and listed in 2024 in France’s General Inventory of Cultural Heritage, the Château reopens its doors not reinvented, but restored to itself.

A few private celebrations a year.
A few corporate events in search of confidentiality.
Private stays for those seeking something more personal, more intimate, truly their own.

A story not meant to be told, only lived.

For Those Who Choose Rarity over Visibility

There are many luxury destinations in the world, very few are truly private.

Château de Méridon is for those who seek silence, authenticity and time.
